Zion

We believe that Zion will be built upon the American continent, but we also believe that Zion is the pure in heart. Many of the hymns use the location-based definition, with Zion starting in Adam-ondi-Ahman and moving to Utah, with hill surrounded and in thy mountain retreat. There are frequent references to Zion’s hill or Zion’s mount. While we believe Zion will be built upon the American continent, we need to be aware that people are also building Zion in other continents. There are still plenty of hymns that talk about Zion being built among all nations and being the pure in heart.

So maybe we could take out the Utah specific interpretations, and modify references to Zion’s mount to focus on the pure in heart.

How do you think our hymns should represent Zion? How do we be faithful to our belief in a Zion in the Americas while helping the whole Church feel like they are part of Zion?
