Fix LDS Hymns

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is redoing the hymnbook and they are asking for our feedback.

This is a place where we can come together to discuss different ways that we can help improve the hymns. By sharing our experiences and listening to others, hopefully, we can provide helpful and sophisticated feedback to the Church.

There are many issues to tackle that are delicate and require attention to detail. How do we make sure our hymns reflect our international membership? How do we represent gender in a way that empowers both women and men to reach their full potential? How do we handle older hymns in light of modern revelation? How do inspire members to live a more Christlike life while helping them feel accepted where they are at? How do we be sensitive to all of the experiences and special circumstances that can be found among the members of the Church? These questions that are important to ask if we want to make the hymns a joyful experience for everyone.

The hymns we sing will shape the culture of the Church for decades to come. Elder Oaks taught “The singing of hymns is one of the best ways to learn the doctrine of the restored gospel.” It is imperative that the hymns convey the will and the love of the Lord. Hymns need to be above reproach.
